The Gospel Is True!
Que Onda! How's everyone! This week and past few weeks have been amazing! We have seen so much success and the work has been very fun! Recently a few things have changed within the missionary work to bring us more excitement and I've enjoyed it. We have been working with a lot of new people and more people have shown Interest. Also It's pretty much just summer at this point and it's been soooo warm and it just makes it much more fun to be out and about, and all the latinos are outside and it's just a happy time tbh haha. Few things that have been happening.
- One of my companions, elder benson is actually going to another area tomorrow! He has taught me and my other companion elder Diestra so much in the past almost 3 weeks. I've learned to be a better missionary! Our mission president wants him to help other missionaries out with the 3 weeks he has left on his mission. We will definitely miss the guy.
- I was able to go to watch the baptism of Sara Salazar, the wife of the group leader in my first area, Westminster. That was huge because we tried to help her understand that this is the true church and baptism is the way to live with her family forever. It took sooo many years for her to finally accept to be baptized. I'll talk more about this at the end of the email tho.
- One of our newer friends named Isabel has accepted a baptismal date and so we are super excited for her to progress and make a covenant with God through baptism!
Sara's Baptism was the most spiritual thing that has ever happened to me tbh. It was so powerful to see someone come to Christ through an action like baptism. It was kinda crazy how I ended up getting to her baptism, because a few days before I had decided I would have to watch her baptism over zoom because I live too far from them. But we had our zone conference the day before with all the Spanish missionaries and the elders in my past area, Westminster, thought of the idea that I could drive back to their area with them and spend the night, and in the morning I could watch the baptism. So that's what we did hahaha. I didn't have any clothes ready, no extra contact lenses, pretty much nothing, just my study supplies and clothes on my back. The next morning I couldn't see anything because my contacts are daily lenses, so my vision was so bad that whole day of her baptism. Luckily I was able to witness her baptism. Her husband Gino baptized her and it was such a spiritual moment, literally enough to make a grown man cry haha. After her baptism she was confirmed a member and received the gift of the holy ghost. That was also such a powerful moment to know that she would feel the constant guide and companionship of the spirit in her life. The whole experience with her baptism was such a testament to me that this is the one and true path that leads to God and eternal life. There truly is no other way that leads to him, and by watching someone accept that into their lives is just something really amazing.
I hope you all have an amazing week and you keep reading your scriptures, praying, and going to church. Love you all!
