My Last Area!!

Hola que Onda?
Hope you all had a good Easters!

I'm officially in my very last area on the mission, or at least I think I am because I don't think they would send me to another place at this point. I thought I was going to be staying in Hagerstown, and continue speaking in English, but my mission president has sent me back into Spanish work in Frederick MD! I'm super happy to be here though, because there are so many latinos and it's going to keep me busy for the rest of the time I am here on my mission. My new Comp is named Elder Johnson. He has been out for 8ish months and he is really good at making food so hopefully I can not get fat hehe. I really enjoyed my time in Hagerstown but I know the lord needs me here in Frederick now. I have been put here to do something important and to end my mission strong.

While I was doing English work in Hagerstown I crossed paths with a lot of interesting people! Someone who thought they were black jesus, another person calling us about having a witch having him do things in his apartment and to him, etc. But I learned a lot and was grateful to share this restored gospel in English.

We also had one of the 12 apostles of Jesus Christ (Elder Soares) come visit our mission and all the missionaries a few weeks ago. It was very special, you could feel that he has a special spirit and is different from your average person. He shared experiences he has had with how we can be successful missionaries, his parents were converted to this gospel by 2 very focused missionaries, and because they helped his parents they helped Elder Soares grow up in the gospel truths and become the man he is today. As missionaries we can have a generational impact, and you can too. I have loved seeing how the gospel of Jesus Christ has changed people and their families.

Spiritual thought:
Next weekend is the General Conference for our church. For those of you who don't know what that is ill explain. General conference happens 2 times a year and it's when the living prophet of God and his 12 apostles and other leaders speak to us and give us revelation and guidance in these last days. It is literally God giving us extra clarity in these dark times. I'm excited to listen to what God wants to share with us through these inspired men. I invite you all, even if you're not a part of this church to listen, even if for a little bit and pay attention to how you feel when you watch it. The spirit will come and witness of the truth, I promise you!

As I come to the end of my mission I look back with gratitude and sometimes regret when I didn't give my best effort. I can imagine that is what will happen when we are all old and dying, we will think back on the time we have spent here on earth and what we have done and not done. I love these scriptures from the book of mormon which explain how important this life and repentance are in our lives.

Alma 34:31-35
31 Yea, I would that ye would come forth and harden not your hearts any longer; for behold, now is the time and the day of your salvation; and therefore, if ye will repent and harden not your hearts, immediately shall the great plan of redemption be brought about unto you.

32 For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors.

33 And now, as I said unto you before, as ye have had so many witnesses, therefore, I beseech of you that ye do not procrastinate the day of your repentance until the end; for after this day of life, which is given us to prepare for eternity, behold, if we do not improve our time while in this life, then cometh the night of darkness wherein there can be no labor performed.

34 Ye cannot say, when ye are brought to that awful crisis, that I will repent, that I will return to my God. Nay, ye cannot say this; for that same spirit which doth possess your bodies at the time that ye go out of this life, that same spirit will have power to possess your body in that eternal world.

35 For behold, if ye have procrastinated the day of your repentance even until death, behold, ye have become subjected to the spirit of the devil, and he doth seal you his; therefore, the Spirit of the Lord hath withdrawn from you, and hath no place in you, and the devil hath all power over you; and this is the final state of the wicked.

Love you
-Elder Hill
